২০৪০ সালের পূর্বেই তামাকমুক্ত বাংলাদেশ গড়ার লক্ষ্যে মেয়রদের সম্মিলিত প্রচেষ্টা গ্রহণ
আজ ২২ অক্টোবর ২০২৩ বৃহত্তর ঢাকার আট টি পৌরসভার সমন্বয়ে ধামরাই পৌরসভার সম্মেলন কক্ষে তামাক নিয়ন্ত্রণে স্থানীয় সরকার প্রতিষ্ঠানের গাইডলাইন বাস্তবায়ন বিষয়ে "Experience Sharing Meeting in Greater Dhaka with Eight Municipalities" শীর্ষক একটি অভিজ্ঞতা বিনিময় সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। সভায় সভাপতিত্ব করেন মেয়র এলাইন্স ফর হেলদি সিটি'র সাধারণ সম্পাদক, ধামরাই পৌরসভার মেয়র জনাব গোলাম কবির। সভাটি সঞ্চালনা করেন এলাইন্স এর কোঅর্ডিনেটর আবু নাসের অনীক।
স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন এইড ফাউন্ডেশনের প্রকল্প পরিচালক শাগুফতা সুলতানা। উপস্থিত অতিথি হিসাবে আলোচনা করেন দোহার পৌরসভার মেয়র জনাব আলমাস উদ্দিন, কালিগঞ্জ পৌরসভার মেয়র রবিন হোসেন, সাভার পৌরসভার প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা শরফ উদ্দিন আহমদ চৌধুরী (সিনিয়র সহকারি সচিব), সিঙ্গাইর পৌরসভার নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা ইরানী আক্তার। অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে আলোচনা করেন প্যানেল মেয়র, কাউন্সিলরবৃন্দ ও সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্মকর্তাগণ।
সভায় বিভিন্ন পৌরসভার নিজস্ব উদ্যোগে তামাক নিয়ন্ত্রণ কর্মসূচি বাস্তবায়নের উপর এইটি প্রেজেন্টেশন উপস্থাপন করেন সভার সভাপতি। আলোচনার সূত্র ধরে উপস্থিত মেয়র ও নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তাগন প্রতিশ্রুতি ব্যক্ত করে বলেন, তারা তাদের পৌরসভার উদ্যোগে অনুরূপ কর্মসূচি বাস্তবায়নের মাধ্যমে "আগামী ২০৪০ সালের পূর্বেই তামাকমুক্ত বাংলাদেশ গড়ার" মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ঘোষণা বাস্তবায়নে ভূমিকা রাখবেন।
Today on October 22, 2023, an experience sharing meeting titled "Experience Sharing Meeting in Greater Dhaka with Eight Municipalities" was held in the conference room of Dhamrai Municipality in coordination with the eight municipalities of Greater Dhaka regarding the implementation of guidelines of local government institutions on tobacco control. The meeting was chaired by the General Secretary of Mayor Alliance for Healthy Cities - MAHC Mr. Golam Kabir, Mayor of Dhamrai Municipality.The meeting was moderated by Alliance Coordinator Abu Naser Anik.
Shagufta Sultana, Project Director of AID Foundation এইড ফাউন্ডেশন gave the welcome speech. Dohar Municipality Mayor Mr. Almas Uddin, Kaliganj Municipality Mayor Robin Hossain, Savar Municipality Chief Executive Officer Sharaf Uddin Ahmad Chowdhury (Senior Assistant Secretary), Singair Municipality Executive Officer Irani Akhter discussed as guests.Among others, discussed the pannel mayor, councilors and related officials.
In the meeting, the chaired presented the presentation on the implementation of tobacco control activities by the various municipalities. Based on the discussion, the present mayor and executive officers expressed their commitment and said that they will play a role in the implementation of the Honorable Prime Minister's announcement of "to make Bangladesh tobacco-free before the year 2040" by implementing similar activities in their municipalities.
